hi, i'm Bernard Micallef and I come from Malta (Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean Sea, just below Sicily, and before you ask, no we are indipendent and not part of Italy).
Well, i started drawing at a young age and have since developed my own style through manga. i guess there were various points of inspiration, mainly Anime (Pokemon, Dragonball, Inuyasha to name a few). This mostly came to be when i was 14/16 during my last years in Secondary School. When i went to college, i started the Manga Club (which is still running by some of my students). It was at around this period that i met Jeanelle, my soul-mate and inspiration. it was also during this particular period that i got the job as a summer art teacher at a School of Arts, teaching How to Draw Manga. These lessons led me to meet new people who would later take over the manga club in college, thus continuing the legacy (so Star Wars-ish!!). I was approached by two lecturers at College to give a hand in drawing some manga-style comic strips or a biology book that was to be published.
I had also started a douijin (fan comic) on the then newly-released game Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue Teams. So far i have got to Volume 7, and yet i had to stop. Once i got to university, entering a course of Radiography, my drive to draw manga started to go downhill - there wasnt enough time to do things the way i did.
Then the Malta ComiCon'09 was created and the turbo meter went running again! For the following year, i finally managed to create the (probable) first manga in Malta.
And the story continues....
